What’s Love Got To Do With It: 5 Reasons to Love Acupuncture

Valentine’s Day has come and gone, but let’s keep the love alive a bit longer to talk about why acupuncture is so awesome .

It’s no secret that I LOVE acupuncture. A lot.

In honor of last week’s celebration of love and the fact that February is Heart Health Month, I want to share just a few of the many reasons why acupuncture is so close to my heart.

So, without further ado, here are 5 reasons to love acupuncture:

1.  Acupuncture takes its cue from nature.

Acupuncture is based on natural processes taking place in the world around us all the time. Through observing these phenomena in nature and working with those same processes in your body, acupuncture brings you back into balance with the natural world of which you are a part. To an acupuncturist, your body truly is a landscape and an exquisite reflection of the natural environment. A lovely way to see yourself, if you ask me.

2.  Acupuncture has personality.

No cookie-cutter treatments when it comes to acupuncture. This medicine is all about individualized care. Your unique personality and distinctive health needs are expressed and addressed through the treatment designed by your practitioner specifically for you. Acupuncture adapts to you and is an extension of who you are as an individual.  It puts you back in the driver’s seat on your journey toward optimal health.

3.  Acupuncture thinks you’re fantastic already.

Acupuncture is about working with what you already have to improve function, stimulate your body’s self-healing capacity, and bring about physical, emotional, and psychological well being. Comes as you are. Acupuncture wants to help you be the best version of you possible by tapping into your own inherent awesomeness. Pretty cool, right?

4.  Acupuncture is full of surprises.

Perhaps you seek acupuncture for treatment of knee pain, then notice after a few treatments that not only is your knee pain gone, but you are also sleeping better and feeling more energized throughout the day. Or you come in for headaches and notice that in addition to your headaches being eliminated, your digestion also improves and you experience increased mental clarity and reduced stress. I see this with so many of my patients. Acupuncture is truly a holistic medicine. Treatment may focus on one aspect of your health specifically, but it always treats the whole body simultaneously. Expect the wonderfully unexpected.

5.  Acupuncture works.

Acupuncture is incredibly effective for addressing a wide variety of health concerns and conditions. It works with both the physical body and the emotions to bring about whole-body health – eliminating physical pain and improving mobility, relieving stress and easing anxiety, regulating menstruation and ending painful periods, aiding digestion and increasing energy, and so much more. I’ve witnessed and experienced amazing healing and transformations through acupuncture. Acupuncture works. Sometimes it works wonders.
