Where to Shop on Small Business Saturday

Happy Small Business Saturday, Everyone!

While I not-so-secretly cringe every year when Black Friday arrives, I LOVE celebrating small businesses and shopping locally the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

And, as a small business owner myself, I like to spread the love around as much as possible by encouraging everyone I know to support local businesses during the holiday season by purchasing their gifts from these “little boxes” instead of visiting those big box stores.

Thus, in the spirit of Small Business Saturday, I’d like to share with you a few of my favorite places to shop locally in Portland, in the hopes that you’ll visit at least a few of them before the end of the year.

And, hey, if you go today, you can participate in the Little Boxes raffle, and win free stuff just for choosing to shop small. Pretty rad, if you ask me.

So, without further ado, my recommendations for where to do some solid local shopping this year:

Redux: Local, handmade jewelry, accessories, and art. I’ve scored some sweet earrings here multiple times this year.

Betsy and Iya:  Speaking of jewelry, this place has some amazing pieces. Highly recommend.

Artifact:  Love vintage? Me, too. And this place is one of my favorites for finding awesome deals on vintage clothing. Plus, it’s right across the street from the clinic. Check it out next time you’re in for a treatment.

Lark Press:  Beautiful letterpress cards and more. I’m slightly obsessed with this place.

She Bop:  Looking to spice up your relationship? This is the place to go. Two locations, one on Division (again, right down the street from the clinic) and one on Mississippi. The staff is wonderful and the vibe is super inviting. Love this store.

Another Read Through:  Support local, indie bookstores!

Black Wagon:  One of my favorite places to buy presents for my nieces and nephew. Full of tons of fun and unique items.

Sprout Wellness:  You don’t even have to leave your house for this one. If you’re looking for help with your nutrition or you want to learn how to make kombucha or nut milk, or how to ferment your own vegetables, Liz is your girl. She’s smart and lovely and you will LOVE working with her. Guaranteed.

Intrepid Athletics PDX:  Come work out with me! Seriously, though. I love this place. And these people. Ruth and Sean are wonderful coaches (and wonderful humans) and I feel more fit and healthy with them in my corner than I have in a long time.

Have a great weekend, you guys! Shop small and support local business!
