WHAT ARE FLOWER ESSENCES?

Flower EssencesFlower essences are an inexpensive, safe, effective way to address emotional imbalances, helping to restore and strengthen the connection between mind and body. While flower essences can work exceptionally well on their own, they are wonderful to use in conjunction with acupuncture to enhance the effects of treatment, particularly as they relate to the emotions and psychological well-being.

Flower essences differ from herbal formulas in that they work on a vibrational level rather than a physical level, similar to homeopathic remedies in that they are highly dilute substances with subtle power to affect change.

Typically, flower essences are prepared from a sun infusion of wild flowers, with careful attention
paid to the quality of the blossoms used and the environmental conditions at play during the preparation. The infusion is then potentized and preserved in brandy, prescribed as a tincture taken by the drop under the tongue a few times a day.

In my practice, I will often prescribe a single flower essence on its own to address a specific emotional issue, usually taken over the course of 2-4 weeks, or occasionally as long as 2 or 3 months consistently. In some cases, I will prescribe a blend of three to five flower essences, although this is more rare.

Flower essences can be used to address a wide variety of emotional and psychological issues, including:

  • Anxiety and Depression
  • Grief and LossFlower Essences
  • Insomnia
  • Stress and Overwhelm
  • Work and Career Goals
  • Loneliness

Ask about adding flower essence therapy to your treatment plan during your next appointment. I have seen subtle and sometimes profound shifts occur through the use of flower essences, especially when taken in conjunction with regular acupuncture treatments.
